Sun 13. June – Leg 8 Marrakech – Marrakech total 95 km / SS 70 km
At the finish! After 3.700 km and eight race days the team of Amadeus Matzker and Lee Palmer finished in 8th overall position, and in second place in their category (modified 4×4 fuel cars). Today’s last stage was only 70 km short but tricky and driver and co-driver are happy to have mastered those last kilometers of stony tracks and narrow mountain passages without any problems. The team is very happy with the result considering the couple of technical issues they had to deal with along the way. The event officially closes with a podium ceremony and prize giving later in the day. Lee will be back in Grafton next Thursday.
Sat. 12 June – Leg 7 Zagora – Marrakech, total 720 km / SS 350 km
Consistency and good team work were the winning points on today’s long stage. Amadeus Matzker and Lee Palmer keep catching up, a 7th place in today’s stage lets them advance to 8th overall with only 6 min 18 sec behínd a French Buggy Team. Tomorrow’s last day of the rallye is short and the chances to advance further in the overall standings are small, but everything is possible in rallye. So far the Matzker team is extremely satisfied with their performance, lets hope the last day goes as smooth as the last couple of days and takes them over the final finish line in Marrakech.
Fri. 11 June – Leg 6 Errachidia – Zagora, total 450 km / SS 350 km
More sand and dunes were waiting for the competitor’s on today’s stage from Errachidia to Zagora. A steady run for Amadeus Matzker and Lee Palmer ended with a 11th position in the day’s stage. In the overall rankings the German/Australian team remains in the top ten. Hopefully they can maintain their consistency on tomorrow’s last long and demanding stage from Zagora to Marrakech.
Thu. 10. June – Leg 5 Errachidia – Errachidia, total 375 km / SS 350 km
Today’s loop from Errachidia lead the competitors South along the Algerian border and through the great dunes of Merzuga. The team of Amadeus Matzker and Lee Palmer worked together perfectly and their Landrover Discovery carved through the dunes and hit the stony pists leading back to Errachidia without any troubles. They got rewarded with 11th place of the day and advance in the overall standings to 8th position. More dunes are to be expected on tomorrows stage from Errachidia to Zagora.
Wed. 9. June - Leg 4 Nador – Errachidia, total 725 km / SS 275 km
After their technical problems on Tuesday the team of Amadeus Matzker and Lee Palmer had a good day at their first stage in Morocco. The 725 km leg from Nador to Errachidia went through the Atlas mountains and stony desert, perfect terrain for the Landrover Discovery. With constant speed, good navigation and no technical problems on the 275 km timed selective stage the crew of the race car 239 managed to catch up the time they lost the day before and they arrived at the finish in a respectable 10th position, lifting them up to 10th place in the overall results. Tomorrow a 350 km loop awaits the competitors with the first real dune sections.
Tue. 8. June – Leg 3 Portimao – Algeciras total 520 km / SS 104 km
Bad luck for the team Amadeus Matzker and Lee Palmer on the third day of the rallye Estoril-Portimao-Marrakech. On the 105 km special stage in the mountaneous eucalyptus forests a stone smashed the steering, the brakes and the axle of the Landrover Discovery with the race no. 239. However, the crew made it to the finish where the damage could be fixed by the service crew in a 1.5 hr repair session. They could continue and arrived just in time to catch the ferry to Morocco where a 725 km long stage including 225 of timed special stage awaits the competitors on Wednesday.
Tue. 7 June – Leg 2 Portimao – Portimao total 305 km / SS 220 km

After dusting down Lee and his driver took off for the second SS of the day and arrived in 6th place putting them in the 17th overall position after this second race day. On tomorrows Wednesday there will be another SS in Portugal before a road liaison to the port of Algeciras in Spain from where the rallye takes the boat to Morocco.
